Dr. Jane Ashton Sharp

Dr. Sharp is a professional art historian, with years of publishing experience at major museums,
and university presses. She has also published independently for smaller institutions art books for a specialized audience. She is an active curator and has worked for several museums, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. She has been a successful fundraiser, and is the recipient of numerous grants.

She received a Ph.D. in art history from Yale University (USA), Department of the History of Art in 1992.

Her most recent book published by Cambridge University Press in 2006, titled Russian Modernism between East and West: Natal’ia Goncharova and the Moscow Avant-Garde, 1905-14 won the prestigious Robert Motherwell Prize from the Dedalus Art Foundation in 2007.

She contributes actively to the art historical and critical community in the Netherlands and is a member of the Netherlands chapter of AICA (International Association of Art Critics). As an art expert she consults regularly with private collectors, Sothebys and Christies auction houses internationally.

Dr. Sharp has taught art history in the Netherlands (at Utrecht University for the spring semester of 2007), and lectures regularly in Europe.
